A flat on the ground floor of a house was destroyed in a blaze.
Emergency services rushed to Cambus Road in Canning Town today (October 28) at 3.29pm.
When they arrived, half of the ground floor of a two-storey house that had been converted into flats was alight and had been destroyed.
Two men had left the property before the London Fire Brigade arrived and were treated by the London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.
Four fire engines and 25 firefighters from Plaistow, East Greenwich, East Ham and Poplar were at the scene.
The fire was under control nearly an hour later by 4.18pm.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and is under investigation.
