The search is on for enterprising business entrepreneurs for this year’s Newham Business Awards.

The seventh annual awards were launched at the Royal Docks’ Good Hotel, attended by business leaders including winners from previous years and some of the award sponsors.

“The awards are all about that East End spirit,” Newham Chamber of Commerce chairman Lloyd Johnson said. “We still have a lot of that around, celebrating our area and the great businesses in it.”

Those in Newham or that have completed substantial business in the area are eligible to enter.

Organisers have arranged 10 categories which include 'Business Person of the Year' and 'Sole or Micro Trader of the Year'.

But there is also recognition for anyone trading who is helping the planet with a 'Green Business of the Year' award.

A gala awards dinner is on November 23 when the awards are announced.
