A man has been left with “serious” damage to his eye after a parking dispute allegedly escalated into violence in Canning Town.
Police were called to reports of a fight involving two men in Barking Road at around 10pm on January 16.
A man aged in his 40s suffered “serious” facial injuries and continues to receive treatment for damage to his eye.
Officers subsequently arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-April.
Detective Constable Charlotte Saward, who leads the investigation, said it appeared the dispute “stemmed from a parking incident”.
She added: “We know there were several people who were in Barking Road and witnessed this incident – if you’ve not yet come forward to speak to us then please do so immediately.”
Anyone who can help police is urged to call 101 or post on X (@MetCC), quoting reference CAD 7170/16Jan.
