Two men have been re-arrested on suspicion of the murder of Ahmed Deen-Jah who was fatally stabbed in Newham.
Ahmed, who was 24-years-old, had entered a shop in Freemasons Road on April 2, 2017, where he bought a cigarette lighter.
After leaving the store, he returned just 30 seconds later and was being followed by a person wearing dark clothing including a balaclava and gloves.
Before he was stabbed, Ahmed was chased around the store and then attacked, suffering slash injuries to one hand.
He was then stabbed in the heart and left to die at the scene in what police have described as "an unprovoked attack".
Today (October 25), detectives re-arrested two men aged 26 (referred to as D and E) on suspicion of murder.
A post-mortem examination held at East Ham Mortuary just two days later on April 4 gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
Six people (A - F) were initially arrested as part of the investigation but as yet there have been no charges brought against anyone.
Det Chf Insp Kelly Allen, who is leading the investigation, said: “It has been more than seven years since Ahmed was murdered but my team remains determined to identify those responsible in order to place them before a court.
“We remain in contact with Ahmed’s family and will keep them updated on this morning’s development.
