Hundreds of student rooms are set to be built after the latest phase of a Canning Town development was approved.
Developer Linkcity has been granted planning permission for a mixed-use city block in phase four of the Hallsville Quarter development.
The block will contain 377 purpose-built student accommodation rooms as well as amenity spaces including a first-floor garden and seventh-floor roof terrace, flexible commercial floorspace and landscaped public realm.
Construction is expected to begin towards the end of the year.
Phase four marks the penultimate phase of the Hallsville Quarter scheme, which is expected to complete in the summer of 2025.
The whole development is set to provide more than 1,100 new homes as well as a new hotel and a new health centre.
New public spaces, pedestrian links, cyclist provisions and secure parking spaces are also included.
Phillippa Prongué, Linkcity managing director, said: "I’m so thrilled we have been given the go ahead to deliver phase four of this significant regeneration project in the London Borough of Newham, which will provide much-needed student accommodation in the area.
"It’s exciting to see the new town centre coming on at pace and students will bring vitality and diversity to this community."
