Dive London athlete Mille Rowell beat off fierce competition to bag a gold medal at the G Star 2023 competition recently.
The diving academy based at London Aquatics Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, operated by charitable social enterprise Better, took a team of nine divers to the competition in Leeds.
Dive London is a premier diving club, which has produced gold-medal performances from the likes of Tom Daley, Matty Lee, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, Grace Reid and Kyle Kothari at Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games competitions.
And Rowell was the latest stand-out performer winning the top prize in the 14/15-year-old 1m dive, while Myia Richards came back from a shoulder injury, which has impacted her training significantly, to compete in her first 3m event of the year.
“I’m delighted with the result, especially as I was diving against talented competitors," said Rowell, who will now be looking to take her winning momentum into the British Junior Elite Championships on April 13-16.
Coach Robyn Birch added: “It’s a great result for Millie and will give her lots of confidence moving forward.
"She will be making the step up from Age Group diving to the Elite standards this year, and to get a win under the belt is the perfect stepping stone in this process.”
Dive London Aquatics Club offers a pathway for those progressing through the Tom Daley Diving Academy programme at London Aquatics Centre as well as divers identified through the talent ID programme.
