A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an elderly man was found with a life-threatening head injury in Plaistow.
Officers were called at 3.08pm yesterday (May 15) to Plaistow Road with reports of concerns over the safety of a person in a residential address.
London's Air Ambulance and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were also dispatched to the scene, where a 79-year-old man was found with serious injuries to his head.
He has been taken to a major trauma centre where his condition has been described as life-threatening.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody whilst police enquiries continue.
A crime scene remains in place.
