Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of experiencing one of the best brunches I have ever had at Kachori in Elephant & Castle.

Situated in the vibrant neighbourhood, Kachori offers an all-day dining experience that focuses on the rich, diverse flavours from North Indian regions like Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi.

We opted to sit outside, and I couldn’t have been happier with the choice.

Newham Recorder:

The outdoor seating area is stunning, offering a beautiful view of Elephant Park - the combination of lush greenery and the bustling ambiance of the area created a perfect backdrop for a relaxing brunch.

The service at Kachori was exceptional, and I must give a special shout out to Sanj, our server.

From the moment we arrived, Sanj was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable.

He guided us through the brunch menu, and recommendations were spot-on - he even allowed us to try some of the fresh drinks, which were simply divine.

The Caramel Frappe with hazelnut liquor was delicious and creamy, while the Passionfruit Margherita was sweet and paired perfectly with our starters.

Newham Recorder:

For just £22, customers can choose a small plate and large plate to enjoy at brunch, or for the bottomless kind of people, an extra £20 can get you unlimited amounts of prosecco for 90 minutes.

Newham Recorder:

For starters, my boyfriend and I shared the gorgeous and crispy Kurkuri Calamari and Shrimp, which was paired with flaked chilli aioli, and the classic Smashed Avocado with Poached Egg on Sourdough Toast with Tellicherry Pepper.

Newham Recorder:

There was no shortage of food—the portion sizes were generous, yet each bite felt perfectly crafted.

For my main, I opted for the Club Kachori – an Indian twist on the classic Club Sandwich – which featured smoked chicken, melted spiced cheese, fried egg, greens and beef tomato.

The smoked chicken salad provided a savoury, smoky depth that paired perfectly with the creamy, melted spiced cheese.

Newham Recorder:

The crisp greens and juicy beef tomato offer a refreshing contrast, balancing the hearty elements with their fresh, vibrant taste, and I would most certainly order this again.

My boyfriend chose the Masala Dosa, served with Nariyal Chutney and Udupi Sambhar, which is essentially a light and soft crepe stuffed with potatoes to dip in a sensational curry dish.

Newham Recorder:

Each generous sized dish was a celebration of authentic North Indian cuisine, bursting with flavours and prepared with the freshest ingredients.

And of course, we managed to save room for dessert.

I enjoyed the Summer Pudding, a quintessentially British classic with juicy berries and a delicate aroma of star anise served with Madagascar vanilla custard, while my boyfriend had a classic vanilla ice cream.

Newham Recorder:

We ended our experience at Kachori watching over the people enjoying the sunshine in the park and sipping on the last of our cocktails.

After our delightful brunch, we took a short walk to Four Quarters, a nearby arcade bar.

It was the perfect way to continue our day, offering a nostalgic trip down memory lane with vintage games like Guitar Hero and Mortal Kombat.

The lively atmosphere and the array of classic arcade games made it a fantastic addition to our outing.

Overall, my experience at Kachori was nothing short of amazing.

Newham Recorder:

The combination of exquisite food, excellent service from Sanj, and the charming outdoor seating made for an unforgettable brunch.

I can’t wait to return and indulge in more of their delicious offerings, and perhaps squeeze in another visit to Four Quarters for some retro gaming fun.
