London Zoo nights somehow perfectly combines the atmosphere of a festival and the educational fun of seeing some of the world’s most magnificent animals.

It’s a special event held every Friday night throughout the summer, where you get the chance to experience the zoo in a completely different light—without the daytime crowds of children.

It's quieter, more relaxed, and has a fantastic festival atmosphere – perfect for an evening with friends or a date night offering something different.

From the moment we walked in, we could feel the buzz of excitement. There were food vendors everywhere, offering a delightful range of food, from sweet treats to Greek food and stone-baked pizza.

My friend grabbed a pizza, and let me tell you, it was absolutely incredible—crispy, cheesy, and just perfect.

Drinks were also flowing with beers on tap, cocktails, and even alcoholic slushies.

One thing to note is some animals have early bedtimes so make sure you explore the zoo first before indulging in the food and drinks.

London Zoo is massive, and we didn’t manage to see everything, but that just means we have an excuse to come back.

One of the highlights for me was surprisingly the insect house.

We ventured into the bugs room, which has a walk-through spider area. I skipped that part (spiders are not my thing), but my friend went in and got some amazing pictures.

We were mesmerized by the giant ants carrying leaves back to their colony. I could have watched them all night.

We also saw gorillas with a new baby in their exhibit, lions having a good snooze, and got up close with monkeys in a walk-through exhibit.

The animals are well cared for, and although some might be less active at night, the overall experience is enchanting.

Adding to the magic of the night was the live music. A harpist played beautiful renditions of Disney songs, including the theme from "Up."

It was incredibly romantic to sit with a drink and some pizza, listening to the enchanting music after exploring the zoo.

There were also numerous talks and presentations throughout the evening, which were engaging and informative. We even got to see birds of prey up close.

For those looking for a bit of fun, there were games with chances to win prizes, face painting, and beautifully set up lights around the zoo.

It truly felt like a blend of a night out with friends and a wild adventure.

The Zoo nights will run every Friday from June 7 to July 26, 2024, London Zoo will open its gates from 6pm to 8pm, with the festivities continuing until 10pm.

The combination of live music, street food, educational talks, and the chance to see over 10,000 animals makes Zoo Nights a standout event on London's summer calendar.
