Over 150 hotel guests were evacuated after a fire tore through the building, prompting road closures in the area.
About 60 firefighters and eight fire engines tackled a hotel fire on Connaught Road in Silvertown, Newham, on Sunday (July 28) after being called at 10.10am.
"A hotel room was destroyed by fire," the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said, adding that a man was rushed to hospital.
Station commander Matt Sale, who was at the scene, said: "Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control.

"Road closures were in place while firefighters were on scene and the area was heavily congested.
"People were urged to avoid the area where possible," he added.
The man had suffered from smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
About 150 people had left the hotel before the LFB arrived and the fire was under control by 11.59am.
Crews from Plaistow, East Ham, Poplar and surrounding fire stations attended.
The cause has been recorded as undetermined.
