Two people are in hospital after a house was damaged in a fire in Canning Town.
Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to an address in Durham Road at 5.29am yesterday (August 28) with reports of a fire.
Crews from Plaistow, Poplar, Stratford and East Ham were dispatched to the scene, where a two-storey house was caught in the blaze.
A man and woman managed to leave the property before the arrival of the emergency services.
They were later taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 7.15am, and have reported that the first floor and roof of the home were partly damaged.
A look inside the home after the fire revealed there were no working smoke alarms prior to the incident, LFB said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A spokesperson for LFB said: “This incident shows just how important it is to have working smoke alarms fitted on every level of your home.
“Smoke alarms give the earliest possible warning when a fire starts and we would urge everyone to make sure they have one fitted in every room where a fire can start except kitchens or bathrooms where heat alarms are more appropriate.”
